Post: MiSST Voices Choir Director 

Pay:                                £40 per hour – self-employed 

Days 4 hours per week (broadly term-time Saturdays) plus possible occasional hours (further details will be discussed with candidates  invited for interview) 


Start Date: 1st September 2024 


To lead on the implementation and development of MiSST’s Singing Programmes 

● Leading / conducting choirs – MiSST Voices Choir and any singing that takes place at the MiSST  Music Academy 

● Teaching singing – within the Programmes of Excellence and agreed schools, and supporting  schools with resources/videos for their own choir 

In times of rapid change, job descriptions cannot be prescriptive.  It may be that alterations are  necessary as circumstances dictate and new needs arise.   

Duties of the Post 

1. Main duty: Leading / Conducting Choirs 

1.1 Leading and accompanying the MMA and other choirs through the MiSST Voices Programme 


Possible other duties (to be discussed at interview, and with the successful candidate, on an ongoing  basis): 

2. Professional Development 

2.1 Work with MiSST teachers and tutors to develop their knowledge, understanding, skills and  confidence to teach and model singing 

2.2 Develop accessible resources for students to develop their own singing techniques including pitch, harmony and breath control 

2.3       To ensure healthy singing and vocal health is promoted in all schools 


3. Teaching and Learning 

3.1 With other MiSST staff, review the current singing curricula and the associated resources 3.2 Further develop current resources and ensure easy accessibility on MiSST’s online platform 

4. Other 

● Work with the MiSST Team for the annual concert, and other performances  

● Undertake tasks that would be deemed reasonable within the remit of this role
